The Neighborhood Exchange is seeking donations of gently used kitchen and garden items for its upcoming Kitchen & Garden Feature Weekend, June 26-28, at the shop located at 25 E. Dover St. in downtown Easton.
The event will feature a variety of donated cookware, bakeware, serving pieces, small kitchen appliances, garden tools, planters, outdoor décor, and other home and garden items. Proceeds support the people served by Neighborhood Service Center’s food pantry and homeless prevention programs.
Community members are encouraged to look through their homes, garages, sheds, and storage areas for items they no longer use but that remain in good condition.
“We all have purchases that seemed like a great idea at the time,” said Andy Hollis, executive director of Neighborhood Service Center.
“Maybe it’s a bread maker that’s been sitting in a cabinet for years, extra serving dishes that rarely leave the shelf, or garden tools that aren’t getting used anymore,” Hollis said. “Those items can become someone else’s treasure while helping support local families through our Food Pantry and other programs.”
Since opening, The Neighborhood Exchange has become both a community gathering place and a source of funding for Neighborhood Service Center programs. To date, the store has generated $25,000 for the food pantry and related programs.
Volunteer Susan Langfitt said the store’s success reflects the generosity and creativity of local donors and shoppers.
“One of the things I love most is seeing an item find a new home,” Langfitt said. “People donate things they no longer need, and someone else walks in and discovers exactly what they’ve been looking for. Every donation has the potential to make someone’s day while helping support a great cause.”
Donations are accepted during regular business hours and by appointment. To schedule a donation drop-off, call 410-822-5015.
“We’ve been amazed by the community’s support,” Hollis said. “The $25,000 raised so far is an incredible milestone, but we’re just getting started. Every donation, every purchase, and every visit helps us continue serving our neighbors in need.”
The Neighborhood Exchange is open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
Located at 25 E. Dover St. in downtown Easton, The Neighborhood Exchange transforms donated goods, including furniture, housewares, books, garden supplies, and more, into funding that supports programs and services for individuals and families throughout Talbot County, including the Neighborhood Service Center Food Pantry.
