Fabulous Forgeries Returns to Troika Gallery with Opening Night Artist Talk

Back by popular demand, Fabulous Forgeries opens July 10, 2026, at Troika Gallery. Judged by Dr. Dan Weiss, former President and CEO of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and current Director and CEO of The Philadelphia Museum of Art, the exhibit features select Troika artists creating “copies” of their favorite Old Master paintings for display and sale.

Works inspired by Claude Monet, James E. Buttersworth, Édouard Manet, Mary Cassatt, John Singer Sargent, Vincent van Gogh, Winslow Homer, Pierre Bonnard, and other renowned masters will be showcased throughout the exhibition.

Running concurrently with the Plein Air Easton Festival, this entertaining and educational exhibit offers visitors a unique opportunity to enjoy contemporary interpretations of historic masterpieces while gaining insight into the artistic traditions that continue to influence painters today. Photographs of the original works will be displayed alongside each “forgery” for comparison and reference.

On opening night, Troika Gallery artist, art historian and Plein Air participant John Eiseman will lead an engaging discussion titled The Nexus Between Old Masters and Contemporary Art of Today. Held during the Friday evening reception, the participatory talk will explore the enduring influence of master painters on contemporary artists. His presentation begins at 6:00 p.m.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite “forgery.” Dr. Weiss will award prizes in several categories, including Judge’s Choice, Most Believable, Most Creative, and People’s Choice and several Honorable Mentions.  Winning artists will receive monetary awards.

Troika Gallery continues to refresh its exhibition spaces with new works by all Troika artists. The gallery features bronze sculpture, oil paintings, pastels, acrylics, porcelain, watercolors, pencil drawings, and commissioned portraits, reflecting its commitment to presenting the finest in fine art for 29 years.

Located at 9 South Harrison Street in Easton, Maryland, Troika Gallery will be open throughout the Plein Air Easton Festival. Fabulous Forgeries will remain on view through August 31, 2026.

Stop in and vote for your favorite Fabulous Forgery.
