Position Description:  The Marketing & Events Manager oversees the organization’s marketing plan and is responsible for clearly articulating Easton Economic Development Corporation’s (“Easton EDC”) mission, vision, and accomplishments to a variety of audiences across multiple platforms.  Also responsible for tourism-related marketing under the Discover Easton Brand, and economic development marketing via the Easton EDC.

 

The Manager oversees key communications initiatives, such as the publication of the month, tourism e-news, DiscoverEaston.com, and the organization’s social media presence.  The Manager is responsible for working with the downtown business community to identify cooperative marketing opportunities.  The Manager will be a key point of contact for event communication and marketing coordination.   The ideal candidate will be a multi-tasker who takes pride in managing the details of daily tasks but can also think strategically about the future.  The Manager creates opportunities for the Executive Director (“ED”) to serve as spokesperson for the organization but can step in when necessary, in a variety of formats and functions.  The ideal candidate will use their skills as a storyteller and brand manager to bolster the organization’s fundraising and partnership-building activities.  The candidate will also be open to growing professionally as the Easton EDC continues to expand its capacity to market Easton.  The candidate will be a key contributor and will work closely with other full-time staff to handle daily tasks related to social media posts, photography, event support, etc., as well as staff the Visitor Center Coordinator. Covering early morning, weekend, and evening events is a key requirement of this position.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:   Develop and implement the organization’s communications and marketing plan.  Manage the Discover Easton brand as well as the Easton EDC brand.  Create, market, and execute approximately two (2) dozen downtown events annually.  Cultivate relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets to drive increased positive exposure.  Write and distribute press releases and handle press inquiries.  Work with downtown businesses on promotions, co-op marketing, and other opportunities that attract patrons to Easton.  Create opportunities for the ED to elevate the organization’s prominence among local and regional stakeholders, donors, and economic partners.  Manage the production and content of the e-newsletter.  Oversee the development of collateral materials, such as brochures and guides.  Oversee the development and maintenance of websites and the organization’s social media accounts. Support implementation of the organization’s development and fundraising initiatives and marketing.

 

Qualifications:   

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field and/or more than two years of relevant professional experience.  
  • Proven experience and performance with marketing, campaign management, social media and website management, brand management, and/or fundraising.  
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing and metrics/performance tracking and reporting.  
  • Main Street, tourism, and/or economic development marketing experience is preferred.
  • Experience managing external relationships with a variety of media outlets, issuing press releases, and securing coverage.   
  • Excellent communications skills are a must. Demonstrated top-level writing and editing skills required. Strong letter writing, phone and video conferencing presence, and solid email communications skills are necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and consensus-building skills.  
  • Confidence in public speaking in a variety of settings and for a variety of audiences.  
  • Able to function effectively and independent of direct supervision.  
  • Detail-, deadline-, and goal-oriented.  
  • Able to handle sensitive issues and information with diplomacy and confidentiality.  
  • Reliably willing and able to attend meetings and events outside of regular business hours throughout the year consistently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products. Advanced editing, spreadsheet, and publishing skills.

 

Hours: Full-time, salaried *will require time outside of regular business hours

 

Healthcare Insurance with an employer contribution, 20 days of PTO annually, comp time is also available due to the requirements of evenings and weekends, 13 paid holidays per year (please note many of our events are held during paid holidays
