Discovering Easton: Storm & Daughters

Is there a thing in this world better than ice cream? Summer, Fall, and even Winter have seen me craving ice cream. Luckily for me, there’s a great place for it just down the street: Storm & Daughter’s Ice Cream. I found myself there at the end of Summer, not that I hadn’t been often before, or after!

A brick building opens up to a narrow haven of sugar and delight, white walls with bold black illustrations on one side, and on the other, a gleaming trove of ice cream, several dozen, waiting to be tried.

Overseeing this bounty of sweets was Sveinn Storm, one of the owners and operators of Storm & Daughters. I got comfortable with him very quickly. It always pays to know the ice cream man. We spent a few minutes chatting about a little bit of everything, from our kids to eldritch horror and even swapping book recommendations. We discussed Stephen King while he took my order, rolling me a fresh waffle cone and hand-scooping my ice cream.

After much deliberation, I picked pistachio with fudge, but it could have just as easily been a coffee and vanilla, another favorite, or something with peanut butter in it…My love for ice cream is as wide as it is deep.

I stepped out into the August sun with a score of fresh ice cream, one of the finest feelings in life, and taking a seat outside the shop, each bite was refreshing and silky smooth.

As we round closer to fall, I encourage all purveyors and enthusiasts of sweet treats to try Storm & Daughters. Maybe spend a few minutes walking downtown with your sugary treat when the temperature is more kind to frozen goodies. Make it a regular stop. Like I said, it always pays to know the ice cream man.
