Talbot County Announces Plans for Talbot Day 2024
The Talbot County Council is excited to announce celebration plans for Talbot Day 2024, set for Thursday, April 25, 2024.
On April 19, 1983, the Talbot County Council unanimously approved a proclamation declaring April 25th to be the official birthday of Talbot County. In 2023, the Council approved a proclamation to highlight April 25, 2023, as “Talbot Day” or the celebration of the county’s birthday, with hopes of reinvigorating the birthday tradition.
“With Talbot Day, we aim to highlight our diverse community celebrating our citizens and the history of Talbot County,” said Council Member Dave Stepp. “We anticipate this to be an annual celebration, falling on or about April 25th each year, the official birthday of Talbot County.”
For the 2024 Celebration, the County is excited to host several activities to engage the public including a Talbot Day Poster Content, Talbot Citizen and Service Awards, and a birthday celebration.
The County Council asks residents (including school students) to create a poster that shares what makes Talbot County special. The 2024 Talbot Day Poster Contest must depict the theme: “What Talbot County Means to Me”. Talbot County Council members will serve as judges. Winning designs will be displayed on banners in downtown Easton, and artists will be invited to participate in the Talbot Day Celebration on April 25, 2024.

The Talbot Citizen and Service Awards will honor the unsung heroes who volunteer their time to help make Talbot County a better place to live, work, and visit. The Council asks residents to nominate their friends, family, and co-workers. Any nominee must be a resident of Talbot County, volunteer their time in the county, and be over 18 years of age. Nominees will be recognized in the Talbot Day Celebration, where the “Citizen of the Year” will be announced.

Finally, the County asks residents, businesses, and organizations to join them in celebration on Thursday, April 25, 2024 for an official ceremony and birthday celebration on the Talbot County Courthouse Lawn, weather permitting. Details of this event to follow.
“We hope this event will bring our diverse group of citizens and residents together in unity, to celebrate the special place we all call home – Talbot County,” said County Manager Clay Stamp. “We are also hoping to highlight the work of individuals in our community with the Talbot Citizen and Service Awards. We have so many residents that deserve recognition for their generosity and care in our community.”
The Council would also like to see businesses and organizations join in the celebration by offering specials, events, or themed shopping opportunities related to the culture and history of Talbot County in late-April.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the Talbot Day Poster contest, nominate their friends or family for the Talbot Citizen and Service Awards, or wear the Talbot County colors, red and purple, on Talbot Day.
Everyone is welcome to join in the celebration on April 25th and share their love for Talbot County on social media using the hashtag #TalbotDay.
