I have been playing classical and Spanish guitar since the age of 12. I quickly fell in love with classical and Spanish guitar due to my mother’s Venezuelan and Spanish heritage. At the age of 17, I began my guitar studies at the Conservatory Mozarteum in Salzburg Austria.
l teaching beginning students using the classical method as this provides more variety using the left and right hand techniques. Should students wish to continue on with different styles such as jazz, blues, Latin jazz and so forth, having the left and right hand techniques will make the students far more versatile. Another key aspect to my teaching is figuring out students' time management. This allows for both teacher and student to create realistic goals for successful daily practice. Review of material and repetition of songs and pieces are very important for advancement.
My main goal for my students is for them to realize the musicality within, to reach their potential, and for them to find what musical styles they appreciate the most. Encouragement and challenging are vital to student success. To help the students realize their gifts and potential is very rewarding. Lastly, building confidence as a guitar player is very important! When appropriate, I will encourage my students to play at recitals, for their families and school talent shows or other venues for exposure. Music is not only for the individual but to be shared for all!
I formerly taught at the Easton Music Academy since 2022 which was a wonderful experience working with students of all ages. While all of the music instructors and students and their parents were sad to see it close, I am very enthusiastic to continue with my students and grow as an instructor.
