Discover Easton is excited to announce the return of the May Day Flower Celebration in beautiful historic downtown Easton on May 3rd and May 4th.
Doors and windows of participating businesses will be decorated with various award-winning flower displays. Wreaths, baskets, planters, and arrangements will be ready for viewing from Friday, May 3rd at noon and will remain on display throughout the weekend. The Talbot County Garden Club will judge the winners in various categories on Friday the 3rd.
Enjoy a short ride around town on a flower-adorned carriage with free horse carriage rides from Tanglao Carriage Rides on both Friday and Saturday. The Carriage rides will pick up in front of the Easton Visitors Center at 11 South Harrison Street – Friday 3 pm to 7 pm and Saturday 1 pm to 5 pm. Easton’s First Friday Gallery walk will also be underway with galleries open 5 pm to 7 pm with art exhibits and refreshments.
May Day also marks the start of Outdoor Movie Nights in Easton. There will be a free screening of the Hollywood classic Singin’ in the Rain in Thompson Park on May 3rd starting at approximately 8:30 p.m. Bring a chair and a blanket and join us for cinema under the stars.
Downtown Easton’s shops, restaurants, and theaters will also offer special sales and experiences for all ages during the event. The Mercantile will debut new styles of spring shoes and offer an afternoon sampling of new flavors of Southern Spirit cocktail infusers. The Grammy-nominated band Yarn will perform at the Avalon Theatre on May 3rd at 8 p.m. The talented Cyrus Chestnut Trio returns to the Ebenezer Theater on May 4th at 7:30 p.m. Both performances are ticketed.
For anyone interested in floral design, Chesapeake Blooms will have their first Mommy & Me class focusing on Mother’s Day Potted Arrangements on May 4th at 10 a.m. The Talbot County Free Library will offer a spring-themed story time and craft project at 11 a.m. on May 4th. The library will also host “The Bayshore Iris Society – Run of the Irises” iris show, from 1 pm to 3 pm on Saturday.
Bonheur Ice Cream and Pie will have an Alice in Wonderland-themed tea Party on Saturday, May 4th with seating at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Perfect for all ages, this tea will include both savory and sweet offerings including Raspberry Almond Battenberg Cake, Marshmallow Cheshire Cat Tails, and Jambon Beurre Sandwiches. Restaurants are offering a host of new spring-inspired cocktails and dishes.
The Avalon Theatre will host the 24th annual Multicultural Festival, 10 am to 2 pm at Idlewild Park. This joyful celebration showcases and honors the diversity of the mid-shore community. It is an event that fosters understanding, promotes unity, and appreciates the traditions, arts, music, and culinary delights of our varied cultures. Along with the entertainment and delicious cuisine, there will be plenty of activities, including children’s games, face painting, and cultural crafts.
