Discovering Easton: Troika Gallery

Easton’s Art and Entertainment scene has blossomed in the last year, with over fifteen galleries now operating in and around downtown. With so much growth lately, it’s worth it to stop and recognize the one that started it all, Troika Gallery on South Harrison Street.

Troika has been around for twenty-eight years, and serves as the genesis for Easton’s life as an art destination. Its’ history is evident from the moment you walk through the doors, and you can see its’ Eastern Shore roots hanging right on the walls. But Troika branches out beautifully to display artists and subject matter of all stripes.

Right now, the classical realism of artist Matt Zoll keeps catching my eye. From a few steps away, his pieces look like rich photography, but a closer look reveals a stunning craftsmanship that really takes my breath away. The work of Victor Nizovtsev also makes my head turn. It’s whimsical and rich, evoking something classical and timeless with a sense of child-like fun. Both artists, and many more, are well featured in Troika.

Go see them for yourself, and experience what 28 years of curated excellent looks like. Troika is always worth a visit, but if you’ve never been in, you’re missing out on the foundation of art in
Easton.
