Easton St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Potato Race Canceled

Out of an abundance of caution and after consulting with local health and government officials, Discover Easton has decided to cancel the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Potato Race scheduled for Tuesday, March 17.

This is a very difficult call for us, as the St. Patrick’s Day Parade is one of our favorite events each year, however the enjoyment of the parade was not worth putting the 2,000+ people that either attend or participate in the parade each year at risk. Cancellations by several participants and concerns by attendees and officials over the past 24 hours have confirmed this for us.

It is important to emphasize that our restaurants, stores, and attractions remain open, many of which have instituted higher standards of cleanliness over the past couple weeks. The cancellation of the parade is not indicative of a threat to healthy visitors, but instead is meant to protect the most vulnerable of our neighbors in large group settings.

We are terribly sorry for those that were looking forward to participating or attending this year’s parade, and hope to welcome you to a downtown event in the near future.
