The Town of Easton Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce their first annual Health and Wellness Fair. This free, family-friendly event will take place on Saturday, July 19, from 10am to 2pm at Idlewild Park. Those attending can expect to enjoy live music, fun activities for kids, food trucks, and booths from local health organizations offering resources and information.
“We wanted to bring the community together for a fun time, and also to provide a place where people can get information about maintaining and improving their health,” said Town of Easton Director of Parks and Recreation Lorraine Gould. “There’s a lot of amazing local organizations that are providing important services people may not know about. We wanted to help promote that, and to have a good time while doing it!”
The Health and Wellness Fair will feature live music from “A Breath of Fresh Air,” local barbeque courtesy of Spanky’s Soulfood, facepainting and activities for children, and booths from several local organizations including Building African American Minds, Inc., Easton Utilities, Talbot County Health Department, Talbot County Department of Social Services, Easton Police Department, Talbot County Emergency Services (DES), Responsible Fathers Initiative, and Every Voice Counts Rehabilitation Services.
“Even if you’re not in need of any health information or services, this will be a great place to enjoy yourself and connect with the community,” Gould added. “This event is open for everyone to attend, and we can’t wait to enjoy it with our neighbors!”
The event takes place as a part of National Parks and Recreation Month, which spotlights the importance of local parks and amenities, and the parks and recreation professionals who build and maintain them. This year’s theme — “Build Together, Play Together” — celebrates how parks and recreation professionals help create thriving communities.
