“What do you think of the new Pub?”
It’s the question I’ve gotten the most in the last month, and it’s no surprise why. The old Washington Street Pub was an Easton staple. I’d been there myself plenty when it was open, and Easton has been waiting for the Bluepoint re-launch of it for a long time now. With the wait over, it seems like EVERYONE is asking if it delivers.
I’m happy to report that it totally does. When you step inside, you’re greeted with the familiar layout of the old Pub, but with notable aesthetic upgrades. It’s like a homecoming, but better. Even all these years later it still reminds me a bit of a hunting lodge, but with some seriously enhanced trappings. The new bar is beautiful, and the dark, cozy booths are great to sink into
for a hang with friends.
The food doesn’t disappoint either. Like the décor, it’s like the old pub, but elevated. I’ve had steak frites, shrimp tacos, and the old-school pub chips, and all were great. The chips were spot on how I remembered them, the loaded version even better. What really impressed me was the fried chicken and biscuits, which had that homemade taste, with excellent gravy. I’m kind of a fried chicken snob, and the Pub didn’t let me down.
It’s an experience I plan on going back to again and again, and yet another jewel of a restaurant in Easton’s culinary crown.
I don’t think I need to convince anyone to go check it out themselves. The Pub has been wildly popular since its doors reopened. But on behalf of the friendly staff, the great food, and the lovely interior, I can safely answer the question “What do you think of the new Pub?” with a
simple, “I think they nailed it.”
