December 2019- The “bright lights” of Easton are officially lit, with candles, wreaths, and lighted candy canes dressing up our downtown thanks to the men and women at Easton Utilities. Rudolph is set atop Talbot Town, and a third (!) Christmas tree in front of Tidewater Inn is a welcome addition to downtown, provided by Festival of Trees.

However, this influx of holiday spirit is only the beginning, as we get ready to celebrate our Christmas in Easton weekend this weekend in Easton. On Friday, we are excited to celebrate the fourth-annual Moonlight Madness event. The event will bring together holiday festivities with in-store specials and prizes, all culminating with the raffle of over $10,000 in prizes in front of the Tidewater Inn at 10 p.m.

In addition, we are kickstarting our weekend carriage rides early this year, partnering with Tidewater Inn to start the free carriage rides this Friday evening from 4-8 p.m. See historic Easton from a different vantage point from the back of a beautiful horse-drawn carriage. In addition, we will have free Pictures with Santa from 5-8 p.m. at the Bullitt House (102 E. Dover Street) and our friends at the Avalon Theatre will have the downtown snow falling throughout the evening.

On Saturday, we are excited to welcome businesses and organizations from across Talbot County to Easton for the annual Easton Holiday Parade and tree lighting, starting at 6 p.m. This annual tradition has grown over the years, allowing residents and visitors to interact with the area’s organizations in a festive atmosphere. And next Friday, Avalon Theatre’s annual holiday celebration begins with Elf The Musical.

While Easton’s holiday events continue, we also want to express our gratitude to Tidewater Inn and Anne Arundel Medical Center, our two newest sponsors (hospitality sponsor and ice rink sponsor, respectively) of the inaugural Chesapeake Fire & Ice Festival presented by Preston Automotive. The festival, running February 14-16, will feature over 25 ice sculptures, live carvings Friday and Saturday, a downtown ice rink, Stews ‘n Brews festival supported by the Easton Volunteer Fire Department, and a family fun center sponsored by The Country School.

Our sponsors thus far have made the festival possible, and we are excited to now be opening up opportunities for our downtown and smaller businesses to join the fun by sponsoring ice sculptures around town. Sponsorships start as low as $500 for the weekend, and ALL include an ice sculpture created by the professionals at Ice Lab with your creative input.
