This two day class will teach you the basics of woodworking while creating and finishing your very own cutting board. The first of many classes at The Market at Dover Station will feature Local Legend, Howard Hughes, a veteran and accomplished machinist and woodworker with over 1600 cutting boards to his name. You and your class mates will experience a professional woodshop hosted by Sean Harmer of Rivr House Furniture. Youll learn about: -Safety -Wood types and facts -Tools and machinery -Design and Assembly -Clamping and Gluing -Sanding and Finishing -Engraving and personalization -Long term care Day one will consist of a 30 minute lesson on the art of wood by Howard and you’ll proceed to design, clamp and glue your own board. Well provide 6 different types of wood including walnut, maple, cherry and more. Day two, you’ll unclamp, sand, bevel edges and finish your board with food safe oil and cutting board feet. Howard and Sean will instruct and help along the way. You’ll also have the option to engrave your creation with a logo, name or image with our CNC or Lasers.
