Join us at 9S Studios and Washington, D.C. based artist Lely Constantinople for a hands-on exploration of the historic cyanotype process, a fascinating photographic technique developed in the 1840s that uses sunlight and simple chemistry to create distinctive Prussian blue-and-white photographs.
You will learn how iron salts react to UV light ☀️, turning your personal objects into unique photographic prints. This workshop covers the fundamentals of the cyanotype process, from preparing the light-sensitive solution to proper exposure using sunlight, as well as basic developing techniques. Please bring 🛍️ 1-2 items of personal significance that hold meaning for you, with flat objects preferred. All other materials will be provided, and you will take home 1-2 finished pieces, along with new found knowledge of one of photography's most enduring alternative processes.
