A Sizzling July — Shopping, Exhibits and Events at The Market at Dover Station!

The Market at Dover Station is sizzling this July! Brimming with unique opportunities to shop and create, the goods are refreshed, activities engaging, and exhibits new.

A special focus this month is on the Market’s launch of its event services and packages. Two large spaces in the light-filled second story of this historic property, totaling 4000 square feet and accessible by a wide staircase and stair lift, are available for rent either singly or as a package. A
custom twenty-four foot banquet table is available, as are catering, florist services, printing, wedding cakes and photography. Add-ons include lighting, fixtures, tables and chairs, china settings and linens. The exposed brick and beams and location on the Rails-to-Trails in the East
End Arts District of Easton will add a special charm to your wedding, rehearsal dinner, graduation party, family reunion or corporate gathering.

The Market also hosts classes and activities including a book club, yoga classes, Zentangle, needle felting, pottery making, photography, woodworking, jewelry and art classes for kids and adults. Coming soon in phases II and III are a cafe and a future brewery.

In the Market’s Gallery at Dover Station, the Botanical Art League of the Eastern Shore, a group of local and regional artists, opens their exhibit of members’ works, “The Forest Floor,” viewable through August.

Several Market Partners of note in July include the following:

Antonio Venerdi is the signature name of Tony Frietag from Easton, Maryland. “As an architect who lived in Italy for seven years, I am drawn to beautiful structures. My last name means Friday in German. In Italian, the word for Friday is Venerdi. So my Italian friends all call me Antonio Venerdi. I paint what inspires me — history, the layering of building materials, and the light, all as highly realistic as possible.”
Thyme + Stain features European and coastal inspired collections of alluring home furnishings, plus pottery from Italy, and custom furniture refinishing services. Owner Alison Anderson of Annapolis, Maryland, describes why her business is special.

“Thyme + Stain was created to preserve the craftsmanship from years ago by updating home furnishings with an artistic touch. It is a blend of old and new… which includes home decor that celebrates the creativity and design of each piece. From makers near and far, these items will help create the home of your dreams.”

Artist Katherine Carney from Queenstown, Maryland, offers original beach-themed art, canvas and giclee prints, and items imprinted with images of her work such as trays, cook’s aprons, pillows, coasters, candles, fabric and more. Fourteen years ago, when Katherine was looking for original art for her beach condo and couldn’t find any that spoke to her, she started to paint her own. Embodied with the feel of sun and surf in bold, playful colors, brush strokes, and palette knife marks, this work will take your spirit on vacation.

Leaning more toward realism, artist Karen Merkin of Rockville, Maryland, offers original oil paintings and limited addition giclee prints. Karen tells us, “I like painting the details of ordinary objects, especially classic cars, emphasizing the reflections of the surrounding environment in the chrome and glass surfaces.” She also paints beautiful still life paintings where she describes every detail, highlight and shadow. Her work invites you to look at it again and again.

Molly Kunselman Design, based in Huntingtown, Maryland, offers interior design services. Molly believes, “We are deeply influenced by our surroundings. Interior design is an expression of our values, beliefs, and aspirations. I love transforming space, and helping people make connections and find comfort.” After more than 10 years’ experience in residential design in the Washington, DC, region, she launched her business in 2024 and offers full-service design, coaching, consultation and collaboration.
