Join us for an opening conversation with Esteban del Valle, the Academy Art Museum’s Summer 2026 Artist-in-Residence. This early residency lecture offers a chance to engage with the artist at the outset of his time in Easton.
Del Valle will share insights into his practice, tracing the evolution of his work from his roots in Chicago graffiti to his current interdisciplinary studio practice in Brooklyn. Known for his dynamic approach to painting and mural-making, his work explores satire and narrative through an autobiographical lens, using gesture and color to move between figuration and abstraction.
The talk will highlight key influences that have shaped his career—from earning his MFA at the Rhode Island School of Design to international exhibitions and public art projects—while offering a preview of the new body of work he will develop during his residency.
This is an opportunity to gain deeper context for the work as it unfolds and to follow the creative process from its earliest stages.
