P-R-O-C-E-S-S*: RECENT WORK

Photographs, handmade books, and other objects

Making work is a negotiation with uncertainty – no clear beginning or end, just a continuous state of questioning. The photographs and objects in this exhibition exemplify a kind of liberation from the typical exhibition norms of showing a thematic body of work in a finished state, and instead highlights the simple act of making things with no deliberate aim or underlying concept.

All art-making is process but conventionally, there is a striving to have the work completed, viewed and consumed. This show invites an interaction with ideas and works that are in flux, and intentionally reveals the complexities of a long-term relationship with photography itself. Decades of a consistent practice have yielded constant interrogation of photography’s endless forms, materials, and techniques. P-R-O-C-E-S-S* celebrates the inconsistency and discipline, surrender and control of making art; something inevitable is happening but the what, why, and how do not need to be fully comprehended or controlled.
