Live at the Fillmore authentically brings back the electrifying performances of the original Allman Brothers Band—Gregg and Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks, and Jai Johanny “Jaimoe” Johanson—performing in their glory days at Bill Graham’s legendary NY rock venue Fillmore East.
As the definitive Allman Brothers Band tribute, Live at the Fillmore takes its name from “At Fillmore East,” what many consider the greatest live album ever made (ranked 49 on Rolling Stone’s 500 greatest albums). The entire album—from the opening slide guitar lick of “Statesboro Blues” to classics like “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed” and “Whipping Post”—are cornerstones of a Live at the Fillmore show, along with songs from the eponymous album The Allman Brothers Band, Idlewild South, Eat A Peach, and Brothers And Sisters.
The experienced band members are more than up to the challenge of capturing the musical lightning-in-a-bottle elements of the original band…the blues, jazz, psychedelic, and country music all blending together with their Southern rock, jam band-style improvisation.
However, just as Gregg Allman is quoted as saying of the Allman Brothers Band, rather than being a jam band, Live at the Fillmore is a band that jams. And in addition to capturing all the subtle tonal nuances so familiar to fans of the original band's live concerts and recordings, the show features a ‘70s-style psychedelic liquid light show and historic photo slideshow to create the perfect visual backdrop that brings the spirit of At Fillmore East back to life!
