Easton Holiday Parade Delights Hundreds

December 6, 2023

Star Democrat – EASTON — Despite a misty fog blanketing the Eastern Shore Saturday evening, hundreds of residents flocked to the streets of downtown Easton for the town’s festive annual holiday parade.

The evening of holiday magic kicked off with Santa’s arrival, followed by a 6 p.m. ceremonial tree lighting at Thompson Park. Easton Mayor Megan Cook, joined by four town council members, gathered around excitedly as several children flipped the switch to illuminate the iconic tree.

A cheerful spirit was in the air as families staked out prime viewing spots for the parade, talking and laughing with one another. Children, full of anticipation, dashed around, playing tag and dancing in the streets.

The parade, organized by Easton Economic Development Corporation, boasted over 60 vehicles and floats from an array of local schools and organizations.

Winners in three categories — best band, best commercial entry and best nonprofit — were announced shortly after the parade’s conclusion.

A longtime favorite, the Easton Middle School band was honored as the parade’s best band.

Midshore Veterinary Service’s elaborate float and dance performance won honor in the commercial category.

Easton Utilities won in the nonprofit category with festively decorated trucks, one of which produced a swirl of artificial snow, delighting children with the sight.
