Of the seven sea turtles, five have been found in the Chesapeake Bay. Each year, between 5,000 and 10,000 sea turtles enter the Chesapeake Bay in late spring when waters temperatures rise. The majority of these turtles are either juvenile Loggerheads or Kemp’s Ridley using the Bay seasonally as a feeding ground. (Thank you to the Virginia Institute of Marine Science for the info!)
