Discover Easton Member Spotlight: The Trippe Gallery

The Trippe Gallery, located on Harrison Street, is poised to celebrate its sixth anniversary at its current location in November 2019. What began in 2011 as a collaboration of studio and gallery space between two artist friends, fine art photographer Nanny Trippe and watercolor painter Don Hilderbrandt, has evolved into one of the Eastern Shore’s finest art galleries. Exhibiting a range of mediums, genres, and styles, The Trippe Gallery represents local, regional, national and international award-winning artists.

Exuding a warm and friendly environment, the gallery is a popular place to visit amongst locals and first-time visitors who enjoy the ever-changing collection of artwork. Monthly, The Trippe Gallery presents a themed exhibit featuring one or more of the gallery artists, or guest artists, with an opening reception during the First Friday Gallery Walk. Well-known gallery artists include oil painters Stephen Griffin, Elise Phillips, Roberta Seger, David Plumb, Zufar Bikbov, Joe Mayer and Meg Walsh, botanical artist Lee D’Zmura, avian etchings by Melanie Fain and watercolors by Kevin Garber, pastel artist Nick Serratore, mixed media work by Sheryl Southwick, monoprints by Zemma Mastin White and Rosemary Cooley, bronze equine sculpture by Joan Bennett, featured Waterfowl Festival sculptor Eric Tariff, and metal sculpture by John C. North.

Involved in the community, it has become an annual tradition for the gallery to feature a show of photography by the mentees in the Talbot Mentors program. In July, the gallery hosts artist demonstrations by several painters competing in Plein Air Easton, now celebrating its 15th year. Year-round, the gallery represents many of the Plein Air Easton artists, current competitors, and renowned alumni whose paintings are in collections worldwide.

“What I love the most about selling art is the connection between the collector and a painting or sculpture,” gallery owner Nanny Trippe said. “Whether it be a beginning collector or seasoned one, it is an individual response to a work of art that is chosen to be enjoyed for many years in a private space or personal office. Art chosen as a gift is also a very special interaction. The goal of the exhibits in the gallery is to present art that will appeal to a broad audience.”
