Discover Easton Director’s Report

Discover Easton Executive Director

March 2020- Before jumping into the great spring events and activities we have planned, I want to start with a big THANK YOU to all of our businesses, partners, volunteers, and attendees that made our first-ever Chesapeake Fire & Ice Festival a smashing success. The weekend brought thousands of families to downtown Easton to enjoy the frozen festivities and take part in a weekend that was made possible by the support of our wonderful business community. We are already making enhancements to plan for a bigger event in year two, and will either stop by or reach out to your organization in the near future to hear your feedback.

This week our office is in full St. Patrick’s Day mode, getting ready for a fun-filled parade on Tuesday, March 17. Our annual parade in partnership with Hog Neck Golf Course, where many groups decorate golf carts before driving through downtown, is set to be a wonderful event for the whole family. The parade kicks off at 5:30, wrapping from Harrison Street to Dover to Washington Street, where our emcee and judges will be set up in front of the courthouse. After the parade, stick around Washington Street to see the annual St. Patrick’s Day Potato Race sponsored by the Young Professionals of Talbot County. And new this year, the Maryland Lottery will be on hand after the Potato Race to do a LIVE DRAWING on Washington Street for the Pick 3 and Pick 4 drawings, broadcast live on WBAL.

Finally, over the next week look for information on advertising discounts for this year’s Talbot County Tourism Guide. Discover Easton members are offered a discount each year for our Easton-focused co-op advertisement in the annual publication, which we’ll send to all members by the end of this week.

Thank you for all that you do for our Easton community!
