This workshop will focus on the process of establishing light and luminosity in painting. Light is something that must be built into a painting using an indirect method: multiple layers of paint to create a complex optical effect.
Direct painting – also referred to as alla prima or premier coup painting – does not suffice when light is the focus of the piece. Because of this, the workshop will focus on the process and application of painting in layers using the indirect method. The proper use of the materials for achievability will be discussed in addition to impasto, glaze, and
scumble techniques.
